Abstract or Brief Description

Modern finance rests on its alleged ability to "look forward”. According to recent research by Jonathan Nitzan and Shimshon Bichler, modern finance lost this ability in the early 2000s, suggesting that global investors and capitalists have been struck by "systemic fear.” We hear from Jonathan Nitzan where this fear comes from and what it may imply for the future.
